Underwater housings for SLR Cameras

ewa-marine started manufacturing underwater housings for SLR cameras in 1971. Since then these cameras have developed a lot. This has led the current situation where we have three ranges of housings for SLR cameras:

All housings are made from a special, multi-layered, laminated PVC to ensure safety and durability. The material constructed is in a “3D-design”, i.e with hight, width and depth, and not just a flat pouch, to allow ergonomic access to the controls. The seams are all double welded to ensure a flat and extremely strong seal. And, naturally, all ewa-marine camera underwater housings are made with a front port made from optical grade, mineral glass and both housings and ports are “made in Germany” in our factory in Wolftratshausen. Quality you can trust.

D-A.. and D-B Series

These housings are designed for exchangeable lens cameras / system cameras. The D-A.. Series is also suitable for called bridge cameras (i.e. cameras with a non-exchangeable lens)

The D-B and D-A.. Series is designed for a dive depth up to 20m / 60 ft

This series includes:

U-A.. Series

The U-A.. Series is made for regular, consumer class dSLR cameras, like the Canon EOS 700 / Canon Rebel series, as well as large, mirror-less cameras like the Sony A7 and Fuji X-T2, utilising the cameras autofocus to operate the cameras lens. These housings will accept most modern digital SLRs as well as older analog cameras. The great advantage is, that you can use them with a range of cameras. So the housing will not only be usable with your old and your current SLR, but most probably with the camera you will buy in a few years time as well.

Depending on the model, The U-A.. Series is designed for a dive depth from 20m / 60 ft to 50m / 150 ft

The U-A.. Series:

U-B.. Series

The U-B.. Series was designed for the larger, modern, digital SLRs like Nikon D300, D800, D3, D4 und Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, EOS 1DX and similar cameras. These cameras are too bulky around the shutter release to fit in the U-A.. Series.

Depending on the model, The U-B.. Series is designed for a dive depth from 20m / 60 ft to 50m / 150 ft

The U-B.. Series:

U-BF.. Series

Like the original U-B.. Series the U-BF.. housings were designed for the larger, modern, digital SLRs like Nikon D300, D800, D3, D4 and Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, EOS 1DX and similar cameras. Especially in model, fashion or artistic photography in pools, the beach or in the surf, it is often desirable to adjust the aperture or other settings on the lens. For that reason, we designed the U-BF.. Series with a glove for your left hand. The camera rests in your left, gloved hand allowing thumb and index finger to operate the lens while the right finger is positioned on the shutter.

Depending on the model, The U-BF.. Series is designed for a pool work up to 5m / 15 ft and not intended for swimming or diving.

The U-BF.. Series:

U-F.. Series

The U-F-Series was originally designed in 1971. Back then SLRs generally did not come with autofocus or automatic film transport. The lens had to be focused by hand before each shot an the film winder operated by hand. As this is still the case with some cameras from manufacturers like Leica and the fact, that the quality of the photos ensure the survival of this technology, we never stopped developing and updating the U-F-Series and are still manufacturing them today.

Depending on the model, The U-F-Series is designed for a dive depth from 10m / 30 ft. The limiting factor is caused due to operating difficulties of the hand in the glove below this depth.

The U-F.. Series:

* the phrase "other exchangeable lens cameras" would include all cameras sold as and refered to as CSC, MSC, MILC, DSLM, MFT, EVIL, Nikon 1, Canon EOS M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, etc.
